Bees Reveal Split to New "Pond"

Plans have been leaked for a new ground for Coit Park Rangers.

It has been known for a while that the two teams are looking for a way to end their ground sharing agreement and play at two different pitches, albeit at the same facility. The Bees, who currently share John Peel Memorial Stadium with Mandalecht, are planning to be the team to make the move.

The new ground will be named "Green Pond". The name is a revered one in owner Mike Ewer's history, as the first club he was involved with was called Green Pond Rovers. The type of surface is still under discussion, although the club will prefer a grass pitch they have not ruled out an artificial surface.

The size of the field will possibly be a bit smaller than standard, but certainly not larger than the current pitch.

The JP will remain Mandalecht's ground and will be refurbished in their club colors. It has been in operation since the Great Lakes Cup event in Muskegon in 2004.

Both teams were keen to stress though, that this change would not happen overnight, and that it awaits financing. Mandalecht's Amanda Ewer said "times are tough, we can't just go spending money on our own pitch right now". Despite the funding issues, to provide the league with more capacity it is high on the priority list for the two clubs.
